Inspection items and standards: According to Item 2 of Article 39 of Road Traffic Safety Regulations, (same for applications for license plate inspections, periodic inspections, and provisional inspections.
(A) Engine or vehicle identification number should be the same as in the documentary proofs.
(B) Effectiveness of front and rear brakes should meet the regulations.
(C) Deviation between right and left sides of front and rear wheels should meet the regulations.
(D) Various kinds of horns should meet the regulations. Horns with different ones should not be installed.
(E) Lights should meet the regulations of Appendix 7.
(F) Vehicle type and color should be the same as on the record.
(G) Rearview mirror and mudguards on the right and left sides should meet the regulations .
(H) All machine components are complete and function well.
(I) Additional side car is forbidden.
Required documentary proof and notes:

(A) New motorcycle license plate registration form (duplicate receipt for owner).
(B) Vehicle registration.
(C) Motor insurance certificate (the period of valid insurance must be over 30 days).
(D) It is necessary to pay up payments and penalties as follows.
· Accumulated expenses on fuel fee (receipt enclosed).
· All unconcluded fines for disobeying “Act Governing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations” (receipt enclosed).
· Fines for disobeying Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Act.

(A) Please go to the Southern Branch Office of our Department to apply for an inspection within one month before or after the inspection date specified on vehicle registration. If documentary proofs (for example, vehicle registration or license plates) of vehicles of other cities and counties are under suspension or cancellation, please go to the traffic violation arbitration institute or highways supervision authority where your vehicle is registered, to pay penalty fines and apply for inspection.
(B) Inspection fee: NT$ 200 .
(C) If a person does not attend a periodic or provisional inspection following the stipulated period of time (which violates Article 17 of Act Governing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations ), a car owner needs to pay a fine of between NT$ 900 and NT$ 1,800. Over one month, his or her vehicle license plate shall be suspended. It will not be returned until an inspection is made and everything meets the regulations. Over six months, the vehicle license plate will be cancelled.
(D) Since January 1, 2003, if the period starting from the manufacturing year has not reached five years, large heavy-duty motorcycles with license plates are exempted from periodic inspection. If the period is between five and ten years, an inspection needs to take place at least once every year. If the period is over ten years, an inspection needs to be conducted at least twice every year.
