1. R.O.C. I.D. card or Alien Residence Certificate （ with validity of over one year ） and photocopy of it.

2. A valid official drivers license from the reciprocal country and a photocopy of it. （ your foreign driver's license must be authenticated by the embassy of the Republic of China or Representative Office, Liaison Office or other office duly authorized by the ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs or be authenticated in Taiwan by your country's embassy, consulate or other office which is duly authorized by ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ） If you have any question about the regulations of authentication, please contact Bureau Of Consular Affairs 〈 Tel ： (07)211-0605 ext. 215 〉 .

3. Two identical photos (size1 inch), black and white or color, front view of face without hat and taken within the past six months.

4. A Chinese translation of your foreign driver's license （ if your driver's license is not in English ） and must be authenticated together with your driver's license stated above item 2. （ English version need not be translated ）

5. Original passport and a photocopy of it.

6. A physical/ medical checkup certificate for driver's license application by a public hospital.

》》Note:

1. Those who hold an eligible driver's license and obtain an A.R.C. （ with validity of over one year ） may apply for a non-professional driver's license for the same type of vehicle within one year of entry to ROC without having to pass a driving test .

2. Rules of applying for a ROC driver's license are based on the principles of equality and reciprocity.

3. The ROC driver's license of a foreign resident is valid as that person's ARC. Before the license expired, one must extend his/her period of legal residence first, then to extend the validity of the license at one of the motor vehicle offices without applying for a new one. However the accumulated period of validity of a driver's license can't exceed six years.

4. If you are not eligible to do this, for legally driving in Taiwan, you have to pass the driving tests to get a ROC driver's license or apply for a driving permit for your international driver's license.
